JOB PURPOSE STATEMENT:

To conduct experience reviews in accordance with Regulation Nos. 1 and 2.   Provide feedback to associate members regarding their experience, helping them to improve their work.  In conducting experience reviews, seek to enhance the quality, consistency, speed and fairness of such reviews.    Respond to associate member questions regarding substantive appraisal related requirements in experience review.  Serve as resource for contract screeners, volunteer screeners and review committees as appropriate.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  • Screen applications for experience credit, review lists of associate members’ assignments, read and consider appraisals identified by associate members and screener in light of experience requirements, interview associate members, and determine whether to grant experience credit, and if so, how much, in accordance with Regulation Nos. 1 and 2, policies and procedures.
  • In conducting experience reviews, work toward enhancing the speed, quality, consistency, educational value and fairness of such experience reviews.
  • Prepare appropriate policy, training, informational and other materials relating to substantive appraisal-related requirements of experience review for the benefit of contract screeners, volunteer screeners, review committees and associate members.  Respond to inquiries of such parties relating to substantive appraisal requirements of experience review.
  • As appropriate, serve as resource to contract screeners, volunteer screeners and review committees who are conducting experience reviews due to excess volume, experience screener conflict or associate member request.
  • Identify, consider and recommend solutions to substantive appraisal related issues that are unique in the screening of international member experience.
  • Maintain excellent understanding of Regulation Nos. 1 and 2, and policies and procedures regarding experience review.  Maintain excellent understanding of Code of Professional Ethics and Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice, as well as appraisal theory and technique.
  • Work on substantive issues relating to experience credit for activity unrelated to “traditional” experience credit, such as supervisory experience, consulting and any experience alternatives.
  • Assist in other matters relating to experience screening as requested by General Counsel.

Standing, walking, kneeling, crouching, carrying, reaching, handling, sitting, talking, hearing, visual acuity-near and far, field of vision, color vision.

JOB QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree

Knowledge:

  • Thorough knowledge of Regulation Nos. 1 and 2, procedures and policies relating to experience review
  • Thorough knowledge of Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice and the Code of Professional Ethics.
  • Thorough knowledge of appraisal practice and techniques, preferably in a wide variety of property types.
  • Knowledge of association structure and best practices.
  • Understanding of, and sensitivity to, legal issues in awarding experience credit and designations in a not-for-profit association environment

Experience:

  • At least five to ten years appraisal experience.
  • Prior service in one or more of the following Appraisal Institute activities preferred:  member of Admissions and Designation Qualifications Committee or its Panels, or contract experience screening; Education Committee, education developer or publications developer, or instructor; or member of National Ethics and Counseling Committee, its Divisions or Panels, or contract screening in peer review.

ENVIRONMENTAL/ATMOSPHERIC CONDITIONS:

Usual office environmental conditions.

MACHINE, TOOLS, EQUIPMENT (OFFICE AND INDUSTRIAL), SOFTWARE:

Strong MS Office suite skills including Excel or Access.
