JOB PURPOSE STATEMENT:

Assists Senior Manager with association library's knowledge management and institutional repository programs; provides reference and delivery of library-based information services to members, outside users, and staff; developments and maintains the online catalog software; and produces information projects to support membership.

REPORTING STRUCTURE:

Reports to Senior Manager, Y.T. and Louise Lee Lum Library

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  1. Researches, analyzes, and synthesizes information into accurate answers to respond to reference requests.
  2. Develops and maintains knowledge of real estate appraisal and related real estate fields.
  3. Manages the cataloging section: books, journals, papers, multimedia and educational offerings; including authority files and system maintenance.
  4. Evaluates and determines original and copy-cataloging, including developing Library of Congress call numbers and cutter numbers.
  5. Manages the catalog's circulation section: maintains circulation records and generates reports.
  6. Coordinates acquisitions: generates lists of materials for purchase, interacts with vendors, and receives orders.
  7. Develops indices and thesaurus terms.
  8. Searches business information databases and the Internet.
  9. Generates reports and bibliographies on literature searches.
  10. Mines and evaluates the Appraisal Institute Web site for materials to include in the catalog.
  11. Maintains the interlibrary loan process.
  12. Develops project management plans.
  13. Interacts with other departments to collect information and resources.
  14. Performs special projects as requested.

JOB QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Masters degree in Library or Information Science from an accredited program, with 3 years professional experience.

KNOWLEDGE:

MARC, OCLC, business information databases (ProQuest, FirstSearch, Dialog, Gale, etc.) Dreamweaver, Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Pro

PHYSICAL AND VISUAL ACTIVITIES:

Standing, walking, kneeling, crouching, carrying, reaching, handling, sitting, fingering, talking, hearing, visual acuity-near and far, field of vision, color vision.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Ability to pick-up a 28 pound file box and be able to shelf books from a 3-step ladder.

ENVIRONMENTAL/ATMOSPHERIC CONDITIONS:

Usual office environmental conditions.
