POSITION SUMMARY:

In order to meet the Appraisal Institute’s strategic goal to be the preferred membership choice by professionals engaged in real estate valuation services in the U.S. and selected international locations, it is imperative that the organization establish and sustain a global presence. The International Affairs Coordinator spearheads these efforts.

The International Affairs Coordinator functions as a consultant to various program areas of the Appraisal Institute, including the International Relations Department, membership programs, product development, and sales and service areas. The International Affairs Coordinator coordinates international contacts for memberships and products and services. The International Affairs Coordinator devises strategies to meet market demand and grow loyalty that leads to opportunities in the international arena. The International Affairs Coordinator participates in the launch of new products and the marketing of existing products with the objective of increasing market share for education, sales and products. The International Affairs Coordinator maintains relationships with government, corporate, association, and international clients.

The International Affairs Coordinator serves as the International Relations Committee Staff Liaison. Under the new governance system of the Appraisal Institute, committee roles and liaison relationships have been expanded to reflect the organization’s new strategic operations. Committee work must align with the organization’s strategic plan.

General:

JOB DUTIES:

International Development
  1. Implement strategies to create ongoing relationships with international clients.
  2. Maintain relationships and partnerships with other organizations to collaborate on international programs.
  3. Assist in monitoring government actions for potential education and sales opportunities.
  4. Draft annual International Relations Committee plan including a timeline for committee tasks to be completed and scheduling meetings and conference calls to accomplish the work of the committee.
  5. Work with the Appraisal Institute leadership to ensure successful development of international relationships, travel and presentations. Assist leadership in development of position papers, articles, etc.
  6. Draft Request for Proposals (RFPs) when necessary and work closely with and guide consultants when appropriate.
  7. Work with the Marketing Department, oversee the composition of International Newsletters.
  8. Liaison relationship with multiple Departments and Offices in the organization:
  9. a. Marketing & Member Resources
    b. Education
    c. Legal Department
    d. Admissions
    e. Designations
    f. Associates & Affiliates
    g. Strategic Planning & Research
    h. Finance
    i. Governance
    j. and others
  10. Participate in the development and maintenance of an operating plan and budget for the Team.
  11. Responds to queries and complaints (written and verbal).
  12. Ability to travel and make presentations.
International Relations Committee Staff Liaison Duties – In conjunction with IRC Chair
  1. Draft the annual International Relations Committee Operating Plan that includes:
    a. A timeline for committee tasks to be completed
    b. A schedule of meetings and conference calls to accomplish the work of the committee
    c. Create parallel Operating Plans for panels, project teams and work groups that report to the committee
  2. Periodically review and revamp the International Relations Committee Charter.
  3. Develop a relationship of trust and respect with the committee chair ensuring that the Chair understands how the Plan-Scan-Monitor-Adjust process works and understands the committee’s duties, responsibilities, charter and assignments from the Board.
  4. Draft Request For Proposals (RFPs) when necessary and works closely with and guide consultants when appropriate including interviewing or serve on interview work groups when hiring a consultant.
  5. Collectively share information among liaison colleagues, procure resources from other staff in other departments, conduct research/scan and present findings, and oversee the implementation (process & progress) of strategic plan and operating plan outcomes.

JOB QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • 4-year degree, emphasis in Marketing/Communications or Market Development.
  • Proven success in market research, new market assessment and development.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced environment.
  • Customer service attitude.
  • Ability to travel both domestically and abroad.

KNOWLEDGE:

  • Superior verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to quickly understand and adapt to cultural and business practices in other countries.

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum 5 years marketing and sales experience.
