Requirement


A general Candidate must have received at least a four (4) year undergraduate degree from an accredited degree-granting educational institution.



Submission


A college or university may submit an official electronic college transcript directly to admissions@appraisalinstitute.org or the college or university may mail an official college transcript directly to:

Alternatives


The following alternatives are available for general Candidates for Designation who do not meet the requirement above. If a general Candidate chooses to use one of these options, the alternative must be completed by December 31, 2013.



GMAT Alternative:
A general Candidate may achieve a 500 on the GMAT and submit the pass/score sheet for college degree alternative credit to admissions@appraisalinstitute.org. For more information on the GMAT, please see: http://www.mba.com/mba/TaketheGMAT.



Coursework and Additional Experience Alternative: A general Candidate may submit an Associates degree or 30 credit semester hours of specific college/university education, PLUS an additional 1,500 hours of specialized experience (over at least one year). Specific courses include: English Composition, Micro AND Macro Economics, Finance, Algebra/Geometry (or higher math), Statistics, Computer Science, Business Law OR Real Estate Law, and two elective courses in either accounting, geography, agricultural economics, business management, or real estate.

Requirement


A residential Candidate for Designation must have received at least a two (2) year Associate’s degree from an accredited degree-granting educational institution.

Alternatives


The following alternatives are available for residential Candidate for Designation who do not meet the requirement above. If a residential Candidate for Designation chooses to use one of these options, the alternative must be completed by December 31, 2013.


Non-Degree Coursework Alternative: Successfully pass the following from an accredited college: English Composition, Finance, Principles of Economics (Micro or Macro), Algebra/Geometry (or higher math), Statistics, Intro to Computers (Word processing/spreadsheets), and Business Law OR Real Estate Law.


The course hours must total at least 21 semester credit hours. If an accredited college, junior college, community college or university accepts the College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) examination(s) and issues a transcript for the exam, showing its approval, it will be considered as credit for the college course. GMAT Alternative: A residential Candidate for Designation may achieve a 400 on the GMAT and submit the pass/score sheet for college degree alternative credit to admissions@appraisalinstitute.org.

STANDARDS AND ETHICS REQUIREMENT

Within each Candidate cycle, both components of the Standards and Ethics requirement must be met:

  1. Within the initial, first-year cycle, provide proof of passing most current applicable USPAP or IVS (international Candidates only) course/exam.
  2. Complete the Appraisal Institute Business Practices and Ethics course, available online and in the classroom
