Comprehensive Examination

MAI Designation Comp Exam

The General Comprehensive Examination, for the MAI Designation path, is a 4-part modular exam (multiple-choice questions) derived from the AI body of knowledge. There are 50 questions in each Module. The exam may cover anything in the Appraisal Institute required examinations, current appraisal literature, and the Appraisal Institute Bylaws and Regulations.

AI-GRS Designation Comp Exam

The General  Review Comprehensive Examination, for the AI-GRS Designation path, is a 2-part modular exam (multiple-choice questions) derived from the AI body of knowledge. There are 50 questions in each Module. The exam may cover anything in the Appraisal Institute required examinations, current appraisal literature, and the Appraisal Institute Bylaws and Regulations.

AI-RRS Designation Comp Exam

The Residential Review Comprehensive Examination, for the AI-RRS Designation path, is a 50 questions multiple-choice examination derived from the AI body of knowledge. The exam may cover anything in the Appraisal Institute required examinations, current appraisal literature, and the Appraisal Institute Bylaws and Regulations.

2015 Comp Exam Dates

November 1-30, 2015

Please aim to submit your Application by September 20, 2015. Seating at the testing centers will become very limited after September 20, 2015.

2016 Comp Exam Dates

April 1-30, 2015 (will begin accepting applications after Nov.1, 2015)

Please aim to submit your Application by February 19, 2016. Seating at the testing centers will become very limited after February 19, 2016.

August 1-31, 2016

Please aim to submit your Application by June 20, 2016. Seating at the testing centers will become very limited after June 20, 2016.

November 1-30, 2016

Please aim to submit your Application by September 20, 2016. Seating at the testing centers will become very limited after September 20, 2016.

Due to the nature and logistics of the exam delivery format, transfers and refunds are NOT permitted

Examinees must take ALL required modules within their chosen 30-day window or they will receive an incomplete on ALL modules in that offering.

Comp Exam Eligibility Requirements

  • Attend and pass all required courses/exams.
  • Receive credit for the college degree requirement.
  • Meet the Ethics and Standards requirements for Candidates (this requirement consists of both Business Practices and Ethics and Standards).

Please note: All required examinations must be taken at least six weeks prior to your desired Comp Exam window to allow time for grading.

Comp Exam Fees

  • Taking four (4) modules = $475
  • Taking three (3) modules = $375
  • Taking two (2) modules = $250
  • Taking one (1) modules = $125
