Valuation of Conservation Easements Professional Development Program

Participants who complete courses in the Valuation of Conservation Easements Professional Development Program may represent that they have completed the program’s curriculum and passed the examinations.

Participants may not represent themselves as having a specialization, certification, competency, or expertise based solely on the successful completion of the program.

The program provider does not assume any duty to the public for the services provided by program participants, or any other person or entity.


What does the program cover?

The program addresses concerns by the federal agencies for more comprehensive education on conservation easement valuation, one of the most controversial and scrutinized topics in valuation.


How long is the program?

The program is 4.5 days long and includes and exam.


I am not an Appraisal Institute Designated Member. May I still take the program?

Yes. You will earn continuing education hours.


As a Designated or Candidate for Designation, what happens when I take the course and pass the exam?

You will be placed on the Valuation of Conservation Easements’ Registry.


Is this program approved for qualifying education (QE) credit?

No. Because the content in this program is advanced, it is only approved for continuing education (CE) credit.


How many hours of CE credit will I receive?

The program has been approved for 33 hours (included 2-hour exam) of state CE and AI CE. The program is also approved by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) Education Provider Program at the mastery level, allowing participants who hold the LEED AP designation to earn USGBC continuing education credit.
