Overview
The Appraisal Institute's 2012-2013 15 Hour National USPAP Equivalent Course is approved as an online equivalent by The Appraisal Foundation and the International Distance Education Certification Center (IDECC). The course covers the 2012-2013 USPAP, copyrighted by The Appraisal Foundation, and meets all content requirements specified by the Appraisal Standards Board (ASB) and the Appraiser Qualifications Board (AQB).

Overview:
The principal objective of this course is to familiarize participants with the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP). An electronic copy of the 2012-2013 USPAP document, known as eUSPAP, is provided and is referred to throughout the course. As you proceed through the course you will discover that impartiality is an integral part of what defines an appraiser. The course emphasizes the appraiser’s role and how impartiality is associated with that role under various assignments—the very types of assignments appraisers perform in everyday practice.

This course is an introduction to USPAP, and therefore many in our class will be focused on assignments that involve the appraisal of real property. However, USPAP extends to assignments involving the appraisal of personal property, and business or intangible assets, in addition to appraisal review and real property appraisal consulting. A clear understanding of USPAP fosters both ethical behavior and competent practice in these appraisal disciplines.

The Appraisal Foundation has placed an emphasis on illustrating USPAP application in real-world examples. This course fulfills this requirement with practical examples, pre- and post-course diagnostic quizzes, problem-solving exercises, and multimedia case studies.

The course includes a 1-hour exam proctored at a Pearson national testing facility.

Do I have to take the 1-hour course exam?

You are required to complete and pass the proctored offline exam if:

you are taking this class to meet state qualifying education requirements
you are taking this class to meet the qualifying education requirements for an Appraisal Institute designation
you are taking this class to meet Appraisal Institute continuing education requirements.

You may be required to complete and pass the proctored offline exam if:

you are taking this class to meet state continuing education requirements. Most states do not require the exam for CE credit, but please confirm this with your state licensing board.

You will have 90 days from the time that you complete the course to take the proctored exam. Testing center locations in your area can be found by clicking on this link: www.pearsonvue.com/ai.

AI CE Credit for Designated members, Candidates for Designation and Practicing Affiliates
This program is approved for 1 hour of Appraisal Institute CE credit for every hour taken.

Equipment

Course price includes an electronic copy of the 2012-2013 USPAP (e-USPAP), which is available as a download once the class begins.

Prerequisites

Successful completion of Basic Appraisal Principles and Basic Appraisal Procedures is strongly recommended.

Disclaimer

Cancellation Policy
If you are unable to complete a seminar once it begins, you may cancel out of the seminar before the official seminar end date. Once you cancel out of a seminar, however, you must start the seminar over at the beginning in any later enrollments. You cannot be placed into the seminar where you left off before canceling.

The following tuition refund policy is in effect for canceled online seminars based on the amount of material completed in a seminar:

• Less than 25% of the seminar completed: $60 cancellation fee

• More than 25% of the seminar completed: no tuition refund

Transfer Policy
If you wish to transfer a registration from one seminar to another, the following transfer policy applies based on the amount of material completed in a seminar:

• Less than 25% of original seminar completed:
  • First transfer allowed: no charge
  • Second transfer allowed:
     $60 charge
           (for 7 hour programs and above)
     $35 charge
           (for 6 hour programs and below)
  • Any transfer not allowed beyond two

• More than 25% of original seminar completed: no transfer allowed

If you transfer from a lower priced seminar to a higher priced seminar, you will be responsible for paying the difference using the automated online system. If you transfer from a higher priced seminar to a lower priced seminar, an appropriate tuition refund will be issued.

I further understand that if I am a member of the Appraisal Institute and participated in any misrepresentation of identity, by affirmative act or failure to act, that I will be the subject of a peer review proceeding under Regulation No. 6 for violation of the Appraisal Institute's Code of Professional Ethics and Standard of Professional Appraisal Practice, and that such peer review proceeding may result in termination of my Appraisal Institute membership.
