  Description    
Through two in-depth case studies, this introductory course provides you with the techniques necessary for completing the sales comparison and income capitalization approaches of the valuation process. You will develop and apply qualitative and quantitative analysis techniques as well as organize and reconcile data.

  • You must be familiar with calculator operation when the course begins. Answers to problems in course material are shown using the HP12C. Do not come to class expecting to be taught how to use a financial calculator.

      Prerequisites    
    Successful completion of Basic Appraisal Principles, Basic Appraisal Procedures, and National Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) Course, 15-Hour, or equivalent courses is required.

    Students must sign a waiver at the beginning of the course stating that they have the prerequisites. If they do not, they will not hold the Appraisal Institute responsible and will not expect to receive special attention during the course.

We reserve the right to substitute instructors, change facilities or to cancel this program if sufficient registrations are not received by March 1. In the event of cancellation, tuition fees will be refunded. All other costs incurred are the registrant’s responsibility.

    Course Materials and Hours
    Students registered two weeks prior to the start of this offering will be sent their course materials in advance. [Express shipping may be available for late registrants for an additional fee of $15.]

    On-site check-in on Tuesday, March 12 will begin at 8:15a.m. followed by instruction from 8:30a.m. – 5:00p.m. Instruction will run from 8:30am – 5:00pm March 13-14. On Friday, March 15 instruction will run from 8:30a.m. - 3:00p.m. immediately followed by the two-hour examination.

    Required Equipment
    An HP-12C calculator is required. Attendees must be familiar with calculator operation when the course begins. Answers to problems in the course material are shown using the HP12C. Students should not come to class expecting to be taught how to use a financial calculator. Need a refresher on the calculator? Take our FREE online reviews. Students must bring a No. 2 pencil for the examination. Laptops are not required.

    Education Credit Hours
    Full (100%) attendance is required for education credit; partial credit not available.

    Appraisal Institute: Full attendance and successful completion of the course exam enables Designated Members and Candidates for Designation to receive 30-hours of continuing education credit; 28-hours of continuing education for full (100%) attendance only (no exam). Partial credit is not available. Note: Candidates for Designation taking this course to meet designation / QE requirements must have full attendance and successfully complete the course exam.

    OREA Basic/Qualifying: Residential Sales Comparison and Income Approaches is approved or 30-hours of qualifying education (QE) credit for those seeking initial licensure /certification will full attendance and successful completion of the course exam.

    OREA Continuing: Residential Sales Comparison and Income Approaches is is also approved for 28-hours of OREA CEC (#05754101) for state licensed / certified appraisers who have full (100%) attendance. Successful completion of the course exam is not required for OREA CEC.

    Exam Results & Express Grading
    Exam results are sent directly to you via email from our National Office in Chicago. Attendees should allow 15 working days for receipt of these results. Watch for an email from "exams@appraisalinstitute.org". The Chapter Office does not receive copies of your results. Those in need of Express Grading should complete the Express Grading Request Form (link provided below) with appropriate payment to the National Office prior to the conclusion of this offering.
