This one-day introduction course focuses on the evolution of green buildings, the concept of sustainability in buildings, and the principles, practices, and components that distinguish sustainable from traditional buildings.
Upon completion of the course, participants should be able to:
Recognize competency and USPAP implications of appraising green buildings.
Understand the evolution of green buildings.
Understand the six elements of green building.
Identify benefits and costs of green buildings.
Recognize the green building certification and ratings programs for energy conservation and sustainability.

Parking: The parking is outside the GA Power Building corporate headquarters at 241 Ralph McGill Boulevard, Atlanta Georgia across from the Civic Center. The class is on the ground floor. Students will need to proceed to the main entrance and check in at the security desk. They will then be escorted to the meeting room by an employee. Probably advisable for registrants to be arriving at 8 AM due to typical traffic conditions downtown.

To receive credit, 100% attendance is required for all Appraisal Institute education programs. Students should not be late or leave early; if they are late or leave early, they will not receive credit. The Georgia Real Estate Appraisers Board requires 100% attendance of the classroom time. Partial credit is not awarded.
APPRAISAL INSTITUTE CREDIT HOURS:
8 (including 1-hour exam)
This course is approved for 1.25 hours of Appraisal Institute CE credit for every hour completed.
Completing BOTH Introduction to Green Buildings: Principles & Concepts and Case Studies in Appraising Green Residential Buildings satisfies the Advanced Continuing Education (ACE) requirement for SRA and RM Designated members and residential Candidates and Practicing Affiliates.
Completing BOTH Introduction to Green Buildings: Principles & Concepts and Case Studies in Appraising Green Commercial Buildings satisfies the Advanced Continuing Education (ACE) requirement for an MAI, SRPA, SREA, RM, or SRA Designated Member, and general and residential Candidates and Practicing Affiliates.
GEORGIA CONTINUING EDUCATION APPROVAL:
The Georgia Real Estate Appraisers Board has approved this course for 8 hours of continuing education (including the exam) and 7 hours (without the exam).
