State Certification Education
The Appraisal Institute can meet all of your real estate appraisal education needs! Our education is designed to meet the AQB education criteria.

Appraiser Trainee
To become a real property appraiser, you must first become an Appraiser Trainee. An Appraiser Trainee is subject to direct supervision by an appraiser who is certified in good standing, and may appraise those properties that his or her supervising appraiser is permitted to appraise.
If you wish to become an Appraiser Trainee, you must take courses in the following package:

Licensed Residential Appraiser
The Licensed Residential Appraiser may appraise non-complex 1-4 residential units having a transaction value less than $1,000,000 and complex 1-4 residential units having a transaction value less than $250,000. This classification does
not include the appraisal of subdivisions.
If you wish to become a Licensed Residential Appraiser, you must take courses in the following package:

Certified Residential Appraiser
The Certified Residential Appraiser may appraise 1-4 residential units without regard to transaction value or complexity. This classification does not include the appraisal of subdivisions.
If you wish to become a Certified Residential Appraiser, you must take courses in the following package:

Certified General Appraiser
The Certified General Appraiser may appraiser all types of real property.
