According to Mexican regulations, non-Mexican program attendees are eligible for the Zero Percent Value Added Tax (VAT). In order for attendees to receive this 10% tax credit on hotel accommodations, please note the following requirements:
- All attendees must have the immigration document (tourist card) provided to all international visitors upon arrival to Mexico. This document must be properly stamped by the immigration authorities and valid for at least the duration of the program. This immigration document must be provided to the hotel upon check-in.
- All attendees must bring their passport.
Failure to present either one of these two documents will require full payment of Mexican taxes.

The Appraisal Institute is monitoring conditions in Mexico, generally, and Cancun, specifically. The safety of our members attending the International Valuation Congress is of critical importance. Ida Downgraded to Tropical Storm:
Latest Update: November 9, 2009
The Appraisal Institute continues to closely monitor weather developments that may affect our meetings in Cancun, Mexico, this week. According to the National Hurricane Center, Hurricane Ida has been downgraded to a Tropical Depression. Tropical Depressions are classified as groups of several thunderstorms moving together with maximum winds of 23 to 39 mph. While the rain may cause delays, they should not prevent travel to Cancun. To track the status of Ida, please visit www.nhc.noaa.gov/.
All events in Cancun will proceed as planned; however, the Appraisal Institute will continue to closely monitor Ida’s strength and will keep you apprised of significant developments. Please be sure to check your flight status prior to departure to learn of possible delays. Should you cancel your Cancun attendance at this late date, please be advised that your decision may cause a financial hardship for your Region and the Appraisal Institute due to hotel attrition or contractual penalties incurred due to reduced numbers.

Passport Requirements
Anyone who travels to Mexico by air, land or sea will be required to produce a passport. Getting your passport is easy, but requires some planning in advance. To ensure that you receive your passport in time for your trip, please be sure to send in your passport application at least six weeks prior to your departure date. Please note: If you already have a valid passport, please make sure to double check the expiration date. Your passport must be valid for six months following your departure date as well.

The Group Reservation For International Valuation Congress is now closed. Reservations can still be made by booking directly through Reservations Central at 1-800-343-7821. Rooms and rates are based on availability.
At this time any changes to existing reservations must also be made through Reservations Central.
Note: Cancellations must be made 72 prior to expected arrival to avoid penalty. Cancellations made less than 72 hours will be charged for one night.
GROUND TRANSPORTATION
If you did not pre-arrange for ground transportation from the airport to the hotel, taxi cabs will be available outside of baggage claim. Tropical Incentives will be on-site at the Fiesta Americana Condesa to assist you with your return transportation.
