Become an Author for the Appraisal Institute
Writing for Us May Be Right for You!
We need experienced appraisers like you to serve as authors.
Practicing appraisers have a wealth of knowledge waiting to be tapped. Consider becoming an author for the Appraisal Institute and use your professional experience to benefit yourself and your profession.
The Appraisal Institute offers four venues to showcase appraisers' talents: The Appraisal Journal, Valuation, Appraisal Institute books and Appraisal Institute seminars. The route you take will depend on the complexity of the topic you choose, the depth of your knowledge and the time you have to devote to your writing endeavor.
The Appraisal Journal
Authors of Journal articles are held in high regard by their peers. They introduce and develop new ideas that help direct the future of the profession. Since 1932, The Appraisal Journal has been the leading peer-reviewed forum for appraisal professionals. It is the most frequently referenced publication in the field and has a circulation of nearly 25,000.
Help shape and inform the appraisal industry about legislation, technology, trends and other issues by writing for the Appraisal Institute's quarterly magazine, which reaches more than 40,000 licensed appraisers throughout the United States. If you've appraised an interesting property, tell your peers about the unique challenges you've faced and the techniques you've applied. If you've found a revolutionary new management system, let everyone benefit by contributing to Valuation.
Writing a book is an attainable goal for many experienced appraisers. With hard work and the support and encouragement of peer reviewers and Appraisal Institute staff, your ideas can be published in an impressive, attractive publication that will earn you the respect of your peers and royalty payments that grow with the popularity of your work. Appraisal Institute Seminars
One-day (7-hour) seminars that are practical, interactive and diverse are the cornerstone of the Appraisal Institutes continuing education program. The Appraisal Institute is always seeking to expand the inventory of seminars available through the Education Network. If you have developed and/or presented a well-written, organized seminar on a timely topic, it may be perfect to offer through the Appraisal Institute. Click here for submission guidelines.
The Appraisal Institute is the leading publisher of appraisal literature, and we intend to keep it that way.
Other benefits of authorship or seminar development include recognition and recertification credits. Writing in a professional journal or magazine will raise your profile among your peers and stimulate client referrals. Publishing can also earn Designated members credits toward recertification.
Add to these the many intangible benefits of authorship, such as personal achievement and the satisfaction of serving the appraisal profession, and writing for the Appraisal Institute becomes a very rewarding experience.
