The development of a global appraisal language moved one step closer with the release of the 2000 edition of the International Valuation Standards. The standards are the first publication to emerge from the International Valuation Standards Committee’s Standards Project, officially launched on January 1, 2000. This three-year project will produce a comprehensive set of international standards and guidance by 2002. IVS 2000 aims to align valuation standards for the purposes of financial reporting with international accounting standards promulgated by the International Accounting Standards Committee (IASC).
