Designated in 1932, this former MAI became an appraiser in 1922 and contributed to the development of the real estate tax system in Cook County (Chicago, IL) and the foundations of real estate appraisal itself. His MAI was conferred by the American Institute of Real Estate Appraisers (AIREA), which was founded this same year.

Designated in 1935, this former SRA was the first to earn the SRA designation conferred by the Society of Real Estate Appraisers, which was founded the same year.

Designated in 1944, this former MAI was a direct descendant of passengers of the Mayflower who arrived in Plymouth, MA, in 1620. He began his real estate career in his family business which was established in 1899 in New Jersey. He went on to serve as New Jersey Chapter President of AIREA in the 1960’s. His wife went on to earn her MAI and SRA in 1965 and 1966. She was one of the first women to hold these professional designations.

Designated in 1956, this former MAI served with his brother in WWII. Together they opened their real estate company in 1951.

Designated in 1957, this former MAI served in the Navy in World War II and repaired patrol torpedo boats. He was also known for delivering Meals on Wheels until he was 97 years old. He passed away at 105 years of age.

Designated in 1958, this former MAI, AIREA national President, and gifted instructor, led the committee that established the Y.T. and Louise Lee Lum Library with the Lum family in 1992.

Designated in 1959, this former MAI and 1st Lieutenant in the 4372nd Baking Company, hid in foxholes on Utah Beach 30 days after D-Day, and baked bread for troops on the beaches and throughout France.

Designated in 1960, this former MAI was not only the first African American to earn the MAI designation, but he was also the first African American President of AIREA. He was a leader in breaking racial barriers in the appraisal industry. His son and business partner earned his MAI designation in 1979 and spends much of his time volunteering for the Appraisal Institute today.

Designated in 1965, this former SRA earned his MBA from the Harvard Business School and was an avid Red Sox fan. He was a “Hats off to Hero’s” honoree at Fenway Park for his service in World War II.

Designated in 1964, this former MAI was Canada’s last surviving Battle of Britain pilot and squadron leader. He passed away in June 2019, less than three months before his 103rd birthday.

Designated in 1964, this former SRA was one of Arkansas’ longest married couples. He and his wife shared 77 years of marriage.

Designated in 1976, this former MAI, AI-GRS and AI (Appraisal Institute) Instructor was affectionately known as “Graph Man”, and frequently taught AI courses in a cape!

Designated in 1977, this former SRA was appointed as the Deputy State Treasurer of Arizona and served as chairman of the Arizona Civil Rights Commission under three different state governors.

Designated in 1981 and 1984, this MAI, SRA has exhibited one of the world’s finest collections of textiles (from ethnic minority artists in China) at the George Washington University Museum and The Textile Museum.

Designated in 1986, 2011, and 2015, this MAI, SRA, AI-GRS has traveled the world teaching for AI. He passed the appraisal bug to his daughter who also earned her MAI, SRA. Like father like daughter!

Designated in 1991, this MAI helps Habitat for Humanity rebuild homes damaged in the Southern California wildfires. Our member says, “It’s rewarding, and the victims of these disasters are very grateful.” He volunteers through the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR), which serve people of all faiths and goes where there is need. |

Designated in 1991, 1997, 2014, and 2017, this former MAI, SRA, AI-GRS, AI-RRS, was an AI Past President and represented the AI globally, including serving on the board for WAVO (World Association of Valuation Organizations). He also has an AI national award named after him. |

Designated in 1992, this MAI was the first female chair of the Young Advisory Council (YAC), now known as Leadership Development Advisory Council (LDAC). |

Designated in 1992, this MAI and PhD appraises the most notorious crime scenes in history. He is an appraiser of stigmatized properties (murder, crime, and disaster sites).

Designated in 1997, this SRA received a national award for his volunteer work teaching poetry to children. He also teaches poetry, reading and writing to seniors and prison inmates and has been doing so for more than 20 years.

Designated in 2005, this MAI was the first Turkish member of the Appraisal Institute. She has spent many years establishing the foundations of the appraisal profession in Turkey. She was AI’s first international member of the Board of Directors.

Designated in 2014, this former MAI, SRA, AI-GRS, AI-RRS, and AI Past President, was the first individual to earn the AI-GRS designation in January of 2014, 21 days after the launch of the review designations.

Designated in 2010 and 2017, this MAI, SRA was the first German member to earn two AI designations. He has also served the AI as a member of the International Relations Committee.

Designated in 2020, this MAI, SRA, AI-GRS was the youngest member (born in the 1990’s) to earn three AI designations in two-months.
