Instructional Technical Writer and Copyeditor

Writes and edits high-quality e-learning content that contributes to the overall success of educational presentations and products. This includes e-learning content, instructor and participant handbooks, video and audio scripts, reference documents, course descriptions, user interface text, online help and tutorials, documentation, and marketing copy as assigned. Works independently and collaboratively with a team of e-learning designers, producers, SMEs, and programmers to design, develop, and deliver effective, efficient, and appealing learning programs.

Required Experience:

  • Excellent instructional technical writing and copyediting skills.
  • Ability to quickly grasp complex technical and financial concepts and make them easily understandable in text. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with commonly used style guides.
  • Ability to produce deliverables that are free of errors.
  • Ability to prioritize and/or deal with multiple issues and/or projects; ability to meet deadlines. Strong research skills.
  • Creative, collaborative mindset.

Knowledge:

Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Instructional Design, or equivalent work experience preferred.

Working knowledge of the instructional design process, especially for e-learning. 

Proven work experience in instructional technical writing and copyediting. Experience in training environments for real estate, business, or finance preferred.

Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat tools.

Experience with learning management systems and HTML editing preferred, especially Instructure Canvas. Web and mobile experience preferred.

Familiarity with Adobe InCopy valuable.

Staff Attorney

Provide Legal counsel to the Appraisal Institute to manage and minimize risk but facilitate business objectives on a wide range of corporate, transactional, compliance, policy and litigation matters. Provide legal counsel, to manage and minimize risk but facilitate busines objectives on issues such as antitrust, employment, not for profit status, partnerships/joint ventures/alliances, standard setting and enforcement, public relations and advertsing, contracts, intellectual property, parliamentary procedure, governance structure, diversity programs, and electronic commerce.

Required Experience:

  • Bachelors Degree from an accredited four-year university or college;
  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school;
  • Excellent writing, verbal, interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills;
  • Ability to recognize potential legal problems and recommend appropriate actions;
  • Ability to effectively interact and communicate with members, staff, general public, outside counsel, and opposing counsel;
  • Ability to exercise good judgement;
  • Ability to meet deadlines;

At least 1 year in-house counsel or law firm experience desirable, preferably in non-profit/association area. 

Admitted to practice in the State of Illinois.

Member and Chapter Services Specialist

Under the title, Professional Resources Specialist, this member services and chapter relations position provides day-to-day oversight and support around partnerships and member benefits programs, supports chapter services and oversees compliance with chapter reporting requirements, and provides support to the Appraisal Institute Insurance Trust. This individual will also provide superior customer service and participate in membership recruitment and retention initiatives.

Required Experience:

Provide day-to-day oversight and support around AI affinity partnerships and benefits programs. Possess an understanding of all contracts. Ensure execution of all deliverables.

  • Promote existing member benefits and affinity programs. Maintain calendar of promotional communications and update member benefits section of AI website.
  •  Provide support services to chapters and maintain knowledge of Minimum Chapter Criteria.  Oversee chapter compliance reporting process. Assist in maintaining and updating Chapter Business Tools section of AI website.
  • Provide assistance with Chapter FYI monthly chapter e-newsletter and other broadcast emails to chapters.
  • Provide assistance with planning and implementation of annual Chapter Leadership Program including oversight of the Chapter Awards Program.
  • Provide day-to-day service and administrative support to the Appraisal Institute Insurance Trust in coordination with the Senior Manager.

Bachelor’s degree preferred; Association experience preferred

Minimum 2 years membership, component relations or marketing experience is required; Experience working for member-based associations is preferred.
