Compliance Administrator

The Appraisal Institute is seeking a Compliance Administrator, State Certification with strong organizational, project management and persuasive people skills to lead our State Certification Team. The qualified candidate will lead a staff of two and ensure process compliance related to federal and state certification submissions for our members.

The Appraisal Institute, located in the Chicago Loop, is a global professional association of real estate appraisers, with nearly 17,000 professionals in almost 50 countries throughout the world. Its mission is to advance professionalism and ethics, global standards, methodologies, and practices through the professional development of property economics worldwide.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Collaborate with State boards to assist with interpretation and explanation of federal guidelines to ensure that the Appraisal Institute education programs meet requirements and standards
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with members of the Education Committee, the Appraisal Foundation, the Appraisal Qualifications Board, the Appraisal Standards Board, the Appraisal Subcommittee, Association of Appraisal Regulatory Officials, IDECC and state regulatory boards, chapter leaders, board members to ensure that various stakeholders of the Appraisal Institute are informed about state legislation. Attend industry related meetings to foster relationships and represent the organization via speaking engagements as requested
  • Collaborate with the Government Relations Team and local chapter leadership to propose changes to State agencies that advance Appraisal Institute interests, as well as the interests of the appraisal profession. Communicate with State agencies, to include participation in their conferences and meetings, to inform and persuade their decisions
  • Research and maintain current knowledge of State legislation and regulations of the appraisal profession
  • In pursual of the AI State Certification Compliance Plan, ensure State certification approval and renewals of courses, seminars, online programs, live-online programs, AI conferences and other collaborative conferences
  • Assist in the selection of, train, guide development and manage performance of staff. Act as a role model, assist and contribute to development of staff in education departments and across the organization
  • Prepare and monitor State certification annual budget.

WHO YOU ARE:

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in project management and customer service
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills including public speaking as a subject matter expert preferred
  • Proven analytic skills and the ability to clearly convey complex information to a variety of individuals
  • Proficiency in MS Office, including PowerPoint.
  • Experience with large databases to enter, maintain and report information
  • Record of working independently and collaboratively with internal and external partners to develop and implement large scale projects
  • 1-2 times/year, travel to conferences

Marketing Email Specialist

The Appraisal Institute is seeking a talented Marketing Email Specialist who has the skills, ability and desire to make a difference in our organization. Reporting to the Senior Marketing Manager you’ll be responsible for managing monitoring and recommending improvements for the Appraisal Institute’s email marketing program.

The Appraisal Institute, located in the Chicago Loop, is a global professional association of real estate appraisers. Our mission is to advance professionalism and ethics, global standards, methodologies, and practices through the professional development of property economics worldwide.

Responsibilities:

  • Support all departments through new email initiatives
  • Recommend and implement improvements to emails directed to members, students and external stakeholders
  • Maintain target program email distribution lists
  • Integrate and ensure accuracy of the email lists into Higher Logic/real Magnet email platform
  • Coordinate the marketing efforts for the Institute’s annual conference and serve as project manager for the development and delivery of content, marketing materials and communication
  • Manage the development of the activity calendar and Appraisal Institutes email calendar
  • Administer the Opt-Out and SPAM email listings and requests
  • Fulfill chapter requests for materials
  • Keep online chapter tools and operating manual up to date and recommend related improvements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in marketing or related field or 5+ years’ experience with email platforms, programs and deployment for broad communication to clients/users
  • Proficient with MS Office, and large database segmentation/management
  • Ability to prioritize multiple assignments and meet deadlines
  • Strong project management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate effectively with members, students, chapters and other external stakeholders and affiliates

Staff Accountant

The Appraisal Institute is seeking a talented accounting professional who desires a variety of responsibilities and the ability take ownership of those deliverables, is detail-oriented and has an established foundation and knowledge of debits and credits. Reporting to the Controller you’ll be responsible for the monthly financial close for the Appraisal Institute and Appraisal Institute Education and Relief Foundation.

Its mission is to advance professionalism and ethics, global standards, methodologies, and practices through the professional development of property economics worldwide.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate data collection for monthly close process
  • Prepare and process journal entries to the general ledger including accruals
  • Prepare reconciliations of various balance sheet accounts. Investigate variances and perform necessary adjustments to accounts
  • Produce monthly reports and related support for management review
  • Distribute monthly reports to department directors
  • Work closely with departments in resolving accounting issues and financial report inquiries
  • Reconcile receipts for purchases made via Institute’s corporate credit cards. Record transactions within the general ledger
  • Assist in preparation for annual financial audit
  • Assist in quarterly projection and annual budget processes

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
  • 3+ years experience as a Staff Accountant or relevant role in general accounting
  • Non-profit association experience a plus
  • Demonstrated knowledge of accounting standards and principles
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate effectively with staff and affiliates
  • Attention to detail
  • Proficiency with MS Office, Word, Excel and accounting/financial software
  • Confidentiality and integrity
