PROFESSIONAL RESOURCES COORDINATOR

Reporting to the Senior Manager Professional Resources, the Professional Resources Coordinator serves as the first point of contact for all Appraisal Institute members. This person quickly establishes professional rapport with our members as well as the general public and fellow Appraisal Institute staff, providing the highest level of customer service and organizational knowledge. This position also provides support on key programs and projects benefiting our members.

The Appraisal Institute, located in Chicago, is a global professional association of real estate appraisers, with nearly 18,000 professionals in almost 50 countries throughout the world. Its mission is to advance professionalism and ethics, global standards, methodologies, and practices through the professional development of property economics worldwide.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Responds professionally to phone and email inquiries from Appraisal Institute members, prospects and others regarding designations, education, admissions, publications, dues, fees and other services
  • Assists in supporting the Appraisal Institute’s chapters, member benefits programs, conferences and charitable foundation
  • Tracks, records and updates a variety of information including inquiry responses and other database information in our association software system
  • Responds to and tracks membership reinstatements, delinquencies and other related dues and fees transactions
  • Assists with the promotion of membership benefits, designations, education and products/services

WHO YOU ARE:

  • 2-3 years prior association customer service and/or membership experience required
  • Proven customer service skills as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Deadline driven and task oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Skilled in multi-tasking and independently prioritizing projects and workflow
  • Ability to effectively interact with staff, members/affiliates and clients
  • Strong technology skills. Prior association management software system experience required (netFORUM or other AMS system)
  • High school (or equivalent); some college level courses preferred

STAFF ACCOUNTANT

Do you desire a position that combines solid accounting skills with exposure to an entire organization’s accounting functions and the opportunity to work with multiple entities? Reporting directly to the Controller, the Staff Accountant plays a key role in the preparation, analysis and distribution of the monthly and annual financial statement package. This role encompasses and touches all areas of accounting for our organization.

Its mission is to advance professionalism and ethics, global standards, methodologies, and practices through the professional development of property economics worldwide.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Originates necessary journal entries for monthly close process and prepares account reconciliation to the general ledger
  • Performs monthly corporate credit card reconciliation
  • Coordinates information gathering for the monthly close process
  • Prepares monthly and annual financial statements including statement of financial position, statement of activities and other reports to summarize content and projected company financial position for Appraisal Institute and three related entities
  • Assists in preparation of the annual budget and quarterly forecast projections
  • Assists with preparation for financial audits and compliance reviews
  • Serves as point of contact for related entity financial matters
  • Prepares PowerPoint presentations as needed

WHO YOU ARE:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or business required (CPA preferred)
  • One year of general accounting experience preferred with a strong understanding of accounting standards.
  • Experience with Excel, (Intermediate) PowerPoint and accounting software systems preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills commensurate with the ability to work independently with extreme accuracy
  • Strong technology skills. Prior association management software system experience required (netFORUM or other AMS system)
  • Ability and desire to work as part of a customer focused team
