Appraisal Management Company Oversight

Appraisal management companies (AMC) are business entities that administer networks of independent appraisers to fulfill real estate appraisal assignments on behalf of lenders.   The Dodd Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act of 2010 requires that states enact comprehensive AMC oversight and registration programs.   As of September, 2016 fourty states have enacted comprehensive state AMC laws.  State AMC legislation promotes public trust and consumer protection, and establishes oversight and enforcement where there is none today.
