Coalition Building

The Appraisal Institute works with its chapters and other professional appraisal organizations to assist them in developing broad-based coalitions to work on state legislative and regulatory issues.

Illinois Coalition of Appraisal Professionals

ICAP works to promote the appraisal profession and its image to the general public and to users of appraisal services. ICAP initiates discussion and analysis of issues affecting professional appraisers and monitors political action with the intent to influence legislation, regulation and public opinion toward the appraisal profession.

Missouri Appraisers Advisory Council

The Missouri Appraiser Advisory Council (MAAC) was formed by the major appraisal organizations in Missouri in order to ensure that an effective appraiser certification law and system was set up according to the federal mandate.

Coalition of Pennsylvania Real Estate Appraisers

The Coalition of Pennsylvania Real Estate Appraisers was formed in late 2012 by the five Pennsylvania Chapters of the Appraisal Institute and other interested appraisal professionals to be the Voice of Responsible Real Estate Valuation in Pennsylvania. The CPREA grew as a response to a push by the Pennsylvania Association of Realtors® (PAR) to enact legislation that would permit salespersons and brokers to provide valuation services. The chapters realized they did not have a system in place to provide a timely response to legislation which affects the industry and the public trust, and the CPREA was formed to provide this conduit.

Foundation Appraisers Coalition of Texas

The Foundation Appraisers Coalition of Texas serves as the face and voice of the appraisal industry in Texas. FACT enhances the professional lives of its members through advocacy, communication, education and service.

Utah Association of Appraisers

The mission of the Utah Association of Appraisers (UAA) is:

  • To protect the public interest by promoting a Utah regulatory environment that safeguards honesty, competency, and enforceability of professional appraisal standards, and attracts quality individuals to the appraisal profession.
  • To further a positive image for the appraisal profession in Utah through encouragement and support for independence, professional objectivity and practices of licensed and certified appraisers.
  • To provide leadership, interpretation, and impetus on issues affecting the appraisal profession in Utah.
  • To respond to national issues that have a potential to influence the regulatory environment, independence, professional objectivity, and practices of Utah appraisers.

Appraisers Coalition of Washington

The Appraisers’ Coalition of Washington (ACOW) is a Washington non-profit corporation organized by the Washington chapters of all appraisal organizations that are member organizations of the Appraisal Foundation Advisory Council.

The purposes of ACOW are as follows

  • To educate and communicate with members of the appraisal profession or with any persons concerned with valuation of real or personal property in Washington about legislative and regulatory issues.
  • To support the maintenance and improvement of The Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) and its effective enforcement by the State of Washington.
  • To foster and promote the appraisal profession to the general public through education, research, and publications.
  • To raise the funds necessary to administer its activities and to carry out its purposes and objectives.
