AI Recognizes 4 as ‘Volunteer of Distinction’ in November
The Appraisal Institute announced Nov. 9 the recognition of four individuals as a “Volunteer of Distinction” for the month.
The individuals honored are William T. “Ted” Anglyn, MAI, Region IX (Atlanta Area Chapter); the late Thomas P. Morlan III, MAI, SREA, SRA, Region V (Hoosier State Chapter); Gregory E. Stephens, SRA, Region VIII (North Texas Chapter); and Bryan D. Vick, MAI, Region VII (Southern California Chapter).
Anglyn served as a member of the national Nominating Committee (2010), Finance Committee (2005-06), 717 Business Model Committee (2003-04), Nominating Committee Alternates (2004), Board of Directors (2000), Board of Directors Liaison of the Seminars Subcommittee (2000), Seminars Division Committee (1998-99) and chair of the Youth Advisory Council (1997), vice chair (1996), discussion leader (1995) and member (1992, 1994). He also served on the General Appraiser Board Demonstration Reports Subcommittee (1993-96), Anglyn has served the Atlanta Area Chapter as president (1999), vice president (1998), secretary (1997) and treasurer, chair of the Education Committee and chair of the Finance Committee (1996). Anglyn joined a predecessor organization of the Appraisal Institute in 1982, and received his MAI designation in 1989.
Morlan served the Hoosier State Chapter in 2016 as secretary, treasurer and chair of the Finance Committee. He was chair of the Government Relations Committee (2008 and 2006); chair of the Admissions Committee – General (1996-99); and chair of the Admissions Committee – Residential (1999). He served as a member of the national Government Relations Committee (1997-2004); chair of the CRIS Project Team (2001-03); member of the Research Committee (1996-98); vice chair of the National Relations Committee and a member of the National Nominating Committee (1995) and a member of the Appraisers Political Action Committee (1993-94). Morlan joined a predecessor organization of the Appraisal Institute in 1974, received his SRA designation in 1975, his SREA designation in 1990 and his MAI designation in 1992.
Stephens serves the North Texas Chapter as chair of the Candidate Guidance Committee, a position he also held in 2014 and as chair of the Government Relations Committee, a position he also held in 2015, 2010 and 2005-08. He was chair of the Nominating Committee (2014); chapter president (2013); vice president (2012); regional representative (2012, 2004-05); secretary (2011) and treasurer, chair of the Finance Committee and alternate regional representative (2010). Stephens was a member of the Client Advisory Committee (2005-06); and a member of the Government Relations Work Group (2004). He also served in various leadership capacities with the Society of Real Estate Appraisers, a predecessor organization to the Appraisal Institute.
Vick serves the Southern California Chapter as chair of the Education Committee, and as a member of the Finance Committee and the Mason Thornton Scholarship Fund Committee. He was vice chair of the Summer Conference & Trade Show in 2016, as well as in 2015 and 2008-11; co-chair of the Southern California Subdivision Seminar (2014) and a member of the Nominating Committee (2013). Vick served as chair of the chapter’s Northwestern Branch (2010) and vice chair (2009); and Western Branch advisor, vice chair (2007-08). He joined a predecessor organization of the Appraisal Institute in 1989, and received his MAI designation in 2002.
