Appraisal Institute, Appraisal Institute of Canada Announce Joint Annual Conference in 2017

CHICAGO (June 13, 2016) – The largest professional associations of real estate appraisers in the United States and Canada announced today that the two groups for the first time since 2004 will jointly host an annual conference in Ottawa, Ontario, in 2017.
The three-and-a-half-day event, June 8-11, will feature noteworthy speakers, exceptional educational sessions (with the potential for continuing education credit), exhibits of cutting-edge valuation products and services, an awards reception, a gala dinner, networking with peers and opportunities for exploring Ottawa.
“It’s exciting to partner with our colleagues in Canada on such an important event,” said 2016 Appraisal Institute President Scott Robinson, MAI, SRA, AI-GRS. “We’re thrilled to be part of what we’re sure will be a terrific gathering that will greatly benefit attendees.”
“We are very pleased to be hosting our American colleagues in our national capital during Canada’s 150th anniversary,” said 2015-16 Appraisal Institute of Canada President Daniel Doucet, AACI, P.App. “The 2017 conference will be a tremendous opportunity for valuation and other professionals to network and learn from leading experts in the industry.”
The Appraisal Institute has hosted the AI Annual Conference in its current form since 2011. It has held the event in Las Vegas; San Diego; Indianapolis; Austin, Texas; and Dallas, attracting nearly 500 attendees annually and featuring renowned keynote speakers such as former astronaut Gene Cernan, the last man to walk on the moon, and Vietnam-era prisoner of war Charles Plumb. The 2016 conference will be held in Charlotte, North Carolina, July 25-27.
The Appraisal Institute of Canada has hosted its Annual Conference for more than four decades. Previous events have been held in Calgary, Halifax and Kelowna, among others, attracting approximately 400 attendees annually and featuring keynote speakers such as former Canadian Football League Commissioner Mark Cohon and David Chilton from CBC’s Dragon’s Den. The 2016 event was held in Winnipeg, Manitoba, June 8-11.
