Instructor Ratings Release

WHEREAS, the instructor named wishes to teach appraisal courses and/or seminars for the Appraisal Institute;

WHEREAS, Appraisal Institute regions and chapters wish to consider various types of information when deciding whom to retain to teach a particular course or seminar;

WHEREAS, the Appraisal Institute maintains a system for student evaluations of instructors who teach Appraisal Institute courses and seminars;

NOW THEREFORE, the parties agree as follows:

1. The instructor hereby authorizes the Appraisal Institute to release for publication, in the manner specified below, a numerical overall rating of the instructor based on student evaluations for the last five times the instructor has taught each Appraisal Institute course and seminar. Further, the instructor hereby authorizes the Appraisal Institute to release for publication, in the manner specified below, a numerical overall rating for Appraisal Institute courses and seminars the instructor teaches in the future based upon student evaluations unless and until the instructor specifically directs the Appraisal Institute otherwise in writing.

2. For each course and seminar the instructor has taught, the Appraisal Institute will take the last five sets of student evaluations, eliminate the lowest evaluation, and publish a summary of the results of the remaining four evaluations as further set forth herein. If the instructor has taught a course or seminar only two to four times, the Appraisal Institute will eliminate the lowest evaluation and calculate and publish the numerical overall rating based on the remaining evaluations. If an instructor has taught a course or seminar once, the Appraisal Institute will publish the numerical overall rating from that one course or seminar.

3. The Appraisal Institute agrees to place the numerical overall rating on a portion of the Appraisal Institute Web site accessible to individuals involved in the process of deciding whom to retain to teach a specific course or seminar.

4. The instructor shall hold the Appraisal Institute harmless for any injury or loss suffered or allegedly suffered by the instructor, including but not limited to loss of potential teaching assignments or reputation, as a direct or indirect result of the instructor authorized release of the numerical overall rating.
