Our Mission
The mission of the Appraisal Institute Education department is to develop programs to meet the training and professional development needs of real estate appraisers. Through our programs, individuals gain the skills and knowledge required to meet Appraisal Institute and state continuing professional development needs. Our programs also contribute to individuals meeting the education requirements for the Appraisal Institute professional designations.
Approvals for Appraisal Institute Education
Appraisal Institute education programs are submitted to the following national regulators. Most states approve programs after national regulators approve them. Always confirm with your state that a program is approved before registering.
AQB
The Appraiser Qualifications Board (AQB) is appointed by The Appraisal Foundation and establishes the qualification criteria for state licensing, certification and re-certification of appraisers. FIRREA mandates that all state certified appraisers must meet the minimum education, experience and examination requirements promulgated by the AQB. The AQB has also developed voluntary criteria for personal property appraisers.

IDECC
The International Distance Education Certification Center (IDECC) is a subsidiary of The Association of Real Estate License Law Officials (ARELLO). In 2000, the success of the ARELLO Distance Education Certification program created demand for another certification credential that could be used in industries beyond real estate. Regulatory agencies in the appraisal industry have recognized IDECC Certification as the leading credential for distance education courses.
