CHICAGO (Feb. 21, 2017) – Registration is now open for the 2017 International Valuation Conference, co-hosted by the Appraisal Institute and the Appraisal Institute of Canada, on June 8-11 in Ottawa, Ontario. It is the first event the two organizations have co-hosted in 13 years.
“With the theme of ‘Valuation Beyond Borders,’ this event will attract professionals from across North America and around the world,” said Appraisal Institute President Jim Amorin, MAI, SRA, AI-GRS. “It will present attendees with a great opportunity to learn from the valuation profession’s best and brightest while exploring a terrific city and benefitting from a favorable exchange rate.”
The four-day event will feature noteworthy speakers, exceptional educational sessions (with the potential for continuing education credit), exhibits of cutting-edge valuation products and services, an awards reception and gala dinner, networking with peers, and opportunities for exploring Ottawa, Canada’s capital city, during the nation’s 150th anniversary celebration. Offsite activities include a golf tournament, a valuation tour of downtown building projects, a reception at the Canadian War Museum, walking and running groups, and a post-conference brewery tour.
Physician, scientist, author and deep-sea explorer Dr. Joe MacInnis will be the keynote speaker at the International Valuation Conference. A leadership and teamwork expert, MacInnis has led or participated in more than 50 of the world’s most important expeditions and has logged more time beneath the surface of the Arctic Ocean than any other scientist. He led the teams that made the first science dives at the North Pole and that built the world’s first polar undersea station. He was among the first to dive to the Titanic wreckage and has worked with the U.S. Navy, NASA, the Canadian government and the Russian Academy of Sciences.
“Early bird” registration closes April 18, and rooms are still available at hotels surrounding the Shaw Centre, site of the International Valuation Conference. Attendees should renew U.S. passports that expire before Dec. 8 as soon as possible since response time is about six weeks. U.S. attendees also should contact their mobile carriers to ensure their phones will work in Canada.
