Defending the profession. The Appraisal Institute is the only professional organization defending and promoting real estate appraisers in Washington, D.C. and the states.
Streamlining licensing. The Appraisal Institute strongly supports all efforts to create efficiencies in the state-based licensing and education approval process, including the Portal for Appraiser Licensing (PAL) Act currently pending in Congress.
Promoting AMC fee transparency. The Appraisal Institute believes that consumers deserve to know how each and every dollar that they are paying in real estate transaction costs is being allocated.
Protecting Integrity. The Appraisal Institute protects the profession's integrity and the appraiser's role by resisting efforts to replace appraisals with less reliable valuation methods.
Limiting liability. The Appraisal Institute supports the passage of appraiser-centric statutes of limitations that provide certainty to practitioners that they cannot be sued after a specified period of time.
Lowering unnecessary barriers to entry. The Appraisal Institute works with industry stakeholders to identify and remove unnecessary licensing hurdles that prevent entry into the profession.
Promoting AI members. AI promotes the knowledge, professionalism, and credibility of AI members to clients and users of appraisal services.
