Ethics and Standards
Upholding Professional Ethics and Standards
Real estate is one of the most basic sources of wealth.
The services of valuers are vital to the well-being of our society and help foster economic growth, stability, and public confidence. It’s imperative that valuers be both ethical and competent.
To establish requirements for ethical and competent practice, the Appraisal Institute adopted a Code of Professional Ethics and Standards of Professional Practice.
In addition, we've developed a peer review system to enforce our code and standards.
Code of Ethics
The Appraisal Institute has adopted a Code of Professional Ethics and Standards of Professional Practice to establish requirements for ethical and competent practice. This commitment to professionalism helps to maintain a high level of public trust and confidence in Appraisal Institute Designated Members, Associate Members and Affiliate Members.
Review Our Code of Professional EthicsStandards of Practice
Our Standards of Professional Practice establish requirements for the development and reporting of an appraiser's analysis, opinions and conclusions.
Professional Standards are critical for promoting and maintaining trust in the valuation profession.
Peer Review Referrals
Peer Review Proceedings, pursuant to Regulation No. 6, determine whether a violation of the Appraisal Institute Code of Professional Ethics or Standards of Professional Practice has ocurred.
