    Residential Appraiser Committee

Advancing the Value of Residential Appraisers & the SRA Designation

    Our History

Originally formed in 2004 as the Residential Appraiser Project Team (RAPT), the group evolved into the Residential Appraiser Committee (RAC) in 2022–2023.

RAC was established to support the Appraisal Institute’s mission to recruit and retain residential appraisers and to strengthen the value proposition of AI membership, particularly for SRA Designated Members.

    Our Mission

Per Regulation No. 7, RAC’s core purpose is to:

    • Recommend programs to the Board of Directors that expand networking, mentorship, and career outreach opportunities for residential appraisers.
    • Support partnerships with organizations committed to growing the residential valuation profession.
    • Champion initiatives that enhance visibility, relevance, and demand for residential appraisers.

    Our Objective

RAC is committed to delivering tailored, high‑impact messaging that elevates the expertise, credibility, and value of SRA Designated Members, empowering appraisers, educating end users, and strengthening the profession for the future.

Strategic Marketing to Elevate the SRA Designation

To fulfill this charge, RAC developed a national marketing campaign to:
    • Promote the advantages of hiring an SRA Designated Member
    • Engage key end users of residential valuation services
    • Reverse the decline in SRA Designated membership
    • Strengthen the identity and value proposition of the residential appraisal profession
The campaign entitled, SRA Designated Member Advantage, is strategic program connecting SRA Designated Members with key players in the residential appraisal marketplace to increase visibility and create new business opportunities.
