Our History
Originally formed in 2004 as the Residential Appraiser Project Team (RAPT), the group evolved into the Residential Appraiser Committee (RAC) in 2022–2023.
RAC was established to support the Appraisal Institute’s mission to recruit and retain residential appraisers and to strengthen the value proposition of AI membership, particularly for SRA Designated Members.

- Support partnerships with organizations committed to growing the residential valuation profession.
- Champion initiatives that enhance visibility, relevance, and demand for residential appraisers.

RAC is committed to delivering tailored, high‑impact messaging that elevates the expertise, credibility, and value of SRA Designated Members, empowering appraisers, educating end users, and strengthening the profession for the future.
Strategic Marketing to Elevate the SRA Designation
To fulfill this charge, RAC developed a national marketing campaign to:
The campaign entitled, SRA Designated Member Advantage, is strategic program connecting SRA Designated Members with key players in the residential appraisal marketplace to increase visibility and create new business opportunities.To fulfill this charge, RAC developed a national marketing campaign to:
- Promote the advantages of hiring an SRA Designated Member
- Engage key end users of residential valuation services
- Reverse the decline in SRA Designated membership
- Strengthen the identity and value proposition of the residential appraisal profession

The Residential Appraiser Committee is currently developing a Mastermind Series designed specifically for SRA Designated Members to accelerate growth, expand networks, and strengthen professional success.
With the intent to launch two different mastermind series, RAC will focus on:
- Artificial intelligence
- Litigation/non-lending work
