Legislative Update
State Representative Farley Santos just concluded this session of legislature at the Capitol. We have presented him the language from National for the Statute of Repose for appraisers in Connecticut. He is having his team look it over, and is planning to present it next session, which begins in February. State Representative Patrick Callahan has indicated his support.
Scott DiBiasio Director, Government Affairs put together a preliminary paper for us on Property Data Collector. We are going to start with State of Repose and then proceed with Property Data Collector.
In May, The Appraisal Institute held its first Legislative Day in DC in conjunction with LDAC (Leadership Development and Advisory Council). This was my last year as an LDAC participant. It is a three year program (you don't have to go consecutively). At the end of the 3 years, 4 Discussion Leaders and 2 alternates are picked from the group. This year, Michael Tidwell II, SRA won the election as Vice Chair for 2026, and then Chair in 2027.
The 2026 Discussion Leaders and alternates are:
Julian Rondello, MAI - Seattle, WA
Hilary Jones, MAI. AI-GRS, CHIA - Savannah, GA
Chris Stickney, MAI - Boston, MA
George Koiso, MAI - Los Angeles, CA
Kelly M. Fried, MAI - Cincinnati, OH
Katelyn Drosnock, MAI, MRICS - Philadelphia, PA
There was a good turn out for Legislative Day, so keep mid May 2026 in your calendar. We can put together a Connecticut contingent to go and lobby for the day.
