We are actively looking for places around the state to meet residential appraisers, and you don't have to be a member of the Appraisal Institute. The new forms from the GSEs are like turbo-tax for appraisers. It will be a living document, changing for each appraisal. Sections will expand to meet and explain each characteristic of a property, so no two reports will be the same. This relies heavily on the software companies. It appears less than 25% of appraisers are using modern technology. We want to meet in the field and show the benefits of using an IPAD and lidar to do inspections. Fannie and Freddie are collecting more data than ever, I heard the old forms had 300 fields, the new forms could be 3,000 fields. It is important to reach as many Connecticut residential appraisers as possible, and make sure the new changes don't hold them up. We certainly don't want the GSE's to use technology as an excuse to increase the use of waivers.

If you are a residential appraiser in Connecticut, or just want to see the technology, reach out to Jackie Beauchaine, Chapter Executive Director at 860-482-9992 or Jacqueline.Beauchaine@appraisalinstitute.org with your location and information so we can let you know when our in the field demos are taking place.
