Course Description
This presentation explores how artificial intelligence is reshaping the appraisal profession — from foundational compliance requirements to cutting-edge agentic workflows that automate complex analytical tasks.
We begin with USPAP Compliance, establishing the regulatory and ethical framework that governs how AI tools must be understood, disclosed, and responsibly used by appraisers. From there, we examine the broader industry shift — transitioning from the Chatbot to the Agentic Era — moving beyond simple question-and-answer interactions toward AI systems that can reason, plan, and execute multi-step tasks autonomously.
To bring this shift to life, we walk through two practical examples: a Parcel Intelligence Agent specific to counties in South Carolina that aggregates and analyzes property-level data to surface actionable insights, and a Highest and Best Use Screening workflow that leverages AI to rapidly evaluate legal permissibility, physical possibility, financial feasibility, and maximum productivity across candidate uses.
Finally, we turn to knowledge infrastructure — exploring how appraisal firms can build lasting internal assets through an Appraisal Wiki that captures institutional expertise and methodology, and a news article knowledge base that keeps teams current on market trends, regulatory changes, and economic conditions.
Together, these objectives map a practical path for appraisal professionals to adopt AI confidently, compliantly, and strategically.
