New Appraisal Institute Book Shares Advice for Appraisers in Real Estate Arbitration

CHICAGO (June 07, 2022) – Arbitration is increasingly seen as an efficient and cost-effective alternative to litigation, and valuation professionals are often called on to serve as arbitrators, expert witnesses and consultants in arbitration matters, according to a book published by the Appraisal Institute, the nation’s largest professional association of real estate appraisers.

"Appraisers in Arbitration," second edition, provides detailed information to help valuation professionals participate in arbitrations and understand the roles they will play. The text provides specific advice on how to perform each task required of an arbitrator, expert witness or consultant and the standards that apply to each service. Every step in the arbitration process, from the preliminary hearing to the final award, is explained and common arbitration scenarios and real-world examples are discussed.

This text is "essential reading for valuers who wish to explore how arbitration differs from other areas of practice and to learn how to avoid potential pitfalls and implement best practices in arbitrations," Appraisal Institute President Jody Bishop, MAI, SRA, AI-GRS, wrote in the book’s foreword.

"Appraisers in Arbitration," second edition, (ISBN: 9781935328872) is a 174-page soft cover book. It is available for $70 ($60 for Appraisal Institute professionals). Call 888-756-4624 or order online.
