AI Releases Fifth "What I Value" Video
CHICAGO, IL, UNITED STATES, May 29, 2025 – The Appraisal Institute, the leading association of real estate appraisers, released the fifth in its series of short videos profiling real estate appraisers. Each video highlights the Appraisal Institute's member's professional commitment to the public trust and their communities, and the different ways that appraisers bring high-level professional expertise and experience to their communities and the real estate industry
In a deeply personal account, third generation appraiser Emily Braman,MAI, SRA, AI-GRS shares her journey from a childhood immersed in property valuation to becoming a nationally recognized expert in complex appraisals, including several Frank Lloyd Wright homes. With over 35 years of experience, Emily reflects on growing up in a multigenerational appraisal family, taking over her late father’s business while raising a newborn, and rising to lead high-stakes valuation cases across the country.
Her work is defined by a thoughtful, story-driven approach—“telling the story of the property through data and experience.” Emily’s appraisal of iconic architectural homes began when she was called to value a stately residence in Indiana, sparking a passion that led to appraising five Frank Lloyd Wright houses nationwide.
As one of the few women in the field early in her career, Emily has now become a leader in advocating for women in the appraisal industry. She co-founded Ascend Appraisers, a membership community focused on empowering and connecting women professionals. She continues to mentor others, including her own children—her son now working with her, poised to become a fourth-generation appraiser.
As the library of “What I Value” short videos grows, the Appraisal Institute continues to build its appraiser-centric content focused on the challenges and opportunities professional appraisers have faced, and seized, in their careers. Behind each short video are hours of B-roll, behind the scenes clips, and extended interviews which will be available to the Appraisal Institute and its Chapters as they work together to create more content that highlights to the public the essential roles that professional appraisers play in our communities and economy.
