The following is information related to Candidate program equivalencies that may be available for one or more designation paths.
State Certification Education
If you are not a State Certified Real Property Appraiser and wish to enter a Candidate for designation program, you may enter a program by completing all certification education and examinations through the Appraisal Institute (certified general education for general designation paths and certifed residential for residential designation paths).
Alternative Designations Paths
Our Candidate Policy Manual has the most up to date information related to alternative path requirements. Alternative paths may be available for those who hold the following designations/credentials:

My Master's degree program has not been evaluated by the Appraisal Institute, however, I AM a Certified Real Property Appraiser OR I do perform work such as appraisal, appraisal review or other services provided as a valuer.

Qualifying education exams may be waived by meeting certification/licensure requirements of the foreign country, if considered equivalent to AI qualifying curriculum by the Admissions Committee. Please email your appraisal license to admissions@appraisalinstitute.org, or;

Qualifying education may be waived by completing the online International Equivalency Course: General (exam required). Instructions for completing the offline examination will be given after the completion of the online course. You may challenge this examination without completing the course (not recommended). To challenge this examination, please email your request to education@appraisalinstitute.org.
