Course Description
The Seminar – “The Nuts and Bolts of Assessment Appeal”, is intended to expose the attendees to various points of contact along the path of resolving a real property tax matter and to demonstrate the contribution of the real estate appraiser.
This Seminar will introduce attendees to the real property tax appeal process with demonstrations of appraiser direct examination.
The Township Assessors for many are the first point of contact when an issue arises. A County Assessors plays a major role in receiving real property tax disputes, but not all County Assessors follow the same procedures. The County Board may decide in a way that moves the process along to the Illinois Property Tax Appeal Board that makes the final decision. The role of an Appraisers is substantial in the process of real property tax appeal.
The first-half of the day session will a presentation from Chesney Leafblad and Mark Armstrong about Understanding County-Level Real Estate Tax Appeals in Illinois
The second-half will be a panel discussion from numerous attorneys and appraisers on both sides of the tax appeal process. They will discuss do and don’ts during the tax appeal process.
The educational content of this seminar will enrich the knowledge of Appraisers and Attorneys for use in their own professional and legal practices related to real property taxation. The Seminar intends to deliver the following amount of subject matter education.
