This is a mandatory Continuing Education course required for real estate appraisers renewing their New York State Appraiser Certification or License effective 1/01/2022.
Required as part of CE requirement of 28 hours every two years.
Course Description:This course addresses the appraiser’s responsibilities toward federal, state, and local fair lending laws and regulations. It reviews current laws and regulations and covers important topics of fair housing and fair lending.

ZOOM Participation Guidelines: Students will be required to download Zoom to a laptop, handheld device or phone that has a camera feature, so that the instructor can see and interact with the student for the duration of the program. The platform will be live and interactive. Students will be required to provide a copy of their photo identification, i.e. driver’s license, to the Chapter office no later than 4:00 pm on December 5, 2024 via email. Only those students who provide the photo identification and “attend” the program in its entirety will receive a certificate of completion.

Appraisal Institute and New York State Continuing Education Credit:
Full attendance (100% required), and successful completion of the course required.
(1) APPROVED: 4.0 hours, NYS RE Appraiser Continuing Education credit and APPROVED for Appraisal Institute CE. This course meets the Fair Housing/Fair Lending CE requirements effective 1/01/2022 for appraisers.
(2)APPROVED: 4.0 hours NYS Real Estate Salesperson/Broker continuing education credit, including 3.0 hours of required NYS Real Estate Salesperson/Broker Fair Housing credit. Note: This is not in addition to the 4 hours of CE credit; it is included within the 4 hours. The course meets the Fair Housing/Fair Lending requirements effective 7/01/2021 for real estate salespersons and brokers.
