Q1 In Person Event: New Location, Great Topic!

On February 19, the chapter hosted a fantastic lunch event at the Virginia International Gateway in Portsmouth. Port Overview: What Appraisers Should Know was presented by
Chris Gullickson, Director, Development Engagement, Virginia Port Authority, and Joe Ruddy, Chief Operating Officer, Virginia International Terminals.
The Port of Virginia stands as America’s most modern gateway—an essential economic engine for Hampton Roads, the Commonwealth of Virginia, and the broader Mid‑Atlantic region. During this seminar, participants gained a firsthand, comprehensive overview of key port initiatives and strategic priorities and how they relate to their profession.

    URAR Companion Seminars

On May 6, the chapter hosted 2 new seminars at the REIN building. The class was offered in person & on Zoom, but those in person also enjoyed lunch from Mission BBQ. The seminars were instructed by our Chapter Vice President, Woody Fincham, SRA, AI-RRS.
"Supporting Adjustments and Reporting the Sales Comparison Approach in the New URAR" focused on an effective manner of developing and supporting the sales comparison approach section of the new URAR. "Analyzing and Reporting the Income Approach in the New URAR" used practical case studies to allow residential appraisers to enhance their proficiency with the income approach as reported in the new URAR, whether they have plentiful market data, very little market data, or confusing market data.
